Before You Visit
Everything you need to know before your stay: pools, the road in, payment, check-in, pets and more.
Can I swim in the pools?
The large swimming pool is for the private use of guests staying in Swaynehuis, the farmhouse which sleeps 12. Top and Green Cottage share a splash pool between them. The river is lovely for a cooling dip and is available to all guests.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, we allow 1 dog per cottage and 2 in Swaynekloof House. Cottages are not individually fenced, so please keep dogs near you or on a lead, and always on a lead if you walk in the game park, so they can't chase the sheep or game.
What is the road to the farm like?
The Vanderstelpas Road leading from Botrivier Town to the farm is a dirt road pass with sharp turns, dips and hills. It can be difficult to negotiate at night, and slippery after heavy rain. We suggest you arrive in daylight for your first visit.
How does payment and check-in work?
Full payment is due before arrival. Once that's settled, you're invited to go directly to your cottage, which will be prepared and ready, with the keys waiting inside. Check-in closes at 8pm.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is between 2pm and 8pm. Please let us know your expected arrival time. Check-out is by 10am on the day of departure.
What's provided in the cottages?
Every cottage comes with bedding, bath towels, toilet paper, candles, and a small supply of soap, plus enough plates, glasses and cutlery for your stay. Please bring your own extra towels for swimming. If you need anything else, just let us know.
Where do I park?
Top Cottage parks in front of the boma, Green Cottage parks in front of the cottage itself, Heritage Cottage parks beside the cottage, Riverside Cabin parks on the grass area beside the cabin, and Swaynehuis has a large parking area in front of the house.
Who can I contact during my stay?
Lea and Guy, the farm owners, live in the thatched house at the top of the hill, visible from the Vanderstelpas Road. You may also come across our housekeeper, gardener or other farm staff during your stay. Everyone is happy to help with any questions or issues relating to your cottage or the farm.
What's the cell phone and internet reception like?
Cell C has reception throughout the farm. Vodacom has reception in patches for calls, but SMS works everywhere. MTN has SMS available in some areas near the cottages. WiFi is available in all units.
Will the farm look like the photos?
Our photos were taken during the winter months, so the farm may look a bit drier in summer. The cottages themselves are rustic but comfortable, in keeping with the farm's character.
