Important - before you book

Please be aware that the large swimming pool is for the private use of the guests in Swaynehuis, the large old farmhouse which sleeps 12 guests. The river is lovely for a cooling dip and is available to all guests.

We do not accept bookings for one night stays or loud parties. No music after 9pm!

Although pet friendly, no more than one or two small dogs per unit.

Photos were taken during the winter months, may be drier in the summer.

The cottages are rustic but comfortable.

The Road to the farm

The Vanderstelpas Road which leads from Botrivier Town to our farm can be difficult to negotiate at night as it is a dirt road pass with sharp turns, dips and hills. The road can also be slippery after heavy rains and even during the dry season when the stones become like marbles. Please take care, we suggest you arrive in daylight the first time.

Payment

If your rent has been paid in advance, which is much easier for all of us, you are invited to go directly to your cottage which will have been prepared and made ready for your arrival and the keys will be in the cottage. So please complete payment before leaving home. In the event this is not possible, the key to your cottage will be handed to you when you have made payment on your arrival at the farm. We are closed after 7pm.

Your Accommodation

The cottages are kitted out with bedding, (please bring extra blankets during the cold spells) bath towels, toilet paper, candles, and a small supply of soap. Please bring extra towels for swimming or for long stays. There should be enough plates, glasses and cutlery for you, but should you require anything, please let us know. For showers and bathing, turn on the hot tap, then the cold tap to adjust the perfect the temperature.

Check in times for Swaynekloof are fairly relaxed as we know it is difficult to predict timing when travelling distances. However, if you wish to check in early morning, please let us know, just in case the cottage is occupied. We prefer you to arrive after 2pm. If you are going to arrive after dark, let us know so we can turn on the patio lights for you.

Check out times depend on whether the cottage has been booked for that night. We would prefer you to leave before 2pm on the day of your departure.
Parking: Top Cottage - in front of the boma; Green Cottage - in front of Green Cottage (the road is never used); Heritage Cottage - beside the cottage; Riverside Cabin - grass area beside cabin; Swaynehuis - large parking area in front of house.

Contacts

My husband and I live in the thatched house at the top of the hill which is visible from the Vanderstelpass Rd. Our housekeeper, Ronald and his wife, Very, live in the small cottage in front of Swaynehuis. Our gardener/labourer, Kenani lives in his flat near the large sheds. We are all happy to help you if you have any questions or sort out any issues relating to your cottage or the farm.

Cell phones and internet

Cell C seems to have reception throughout the farm. Vodacom has reception in patches for phone calls but SMS works throughout the farm. MTN has some areas near the cottages where SMS are available. All phones are able to connect in the game area above our thatched house. We do not offer internet so its going to be you, the birds, the animals and nature. Heavenly tranquility for a relaxing stay.

Pet Friendly

Our cottages are not individually fenced, but we do accept well-behaved small to medium-sized dogs. Please keep them near you or on a lead, so they can’t chase our lambs, calves, chicken or game. They must be in a car or on a lead if you walk in the game park.
